Whole genome amplification by isothermal amplification with bacteriophage (phi)29 DNA polymerase and exonuclease-resistant random hexamer primers from single and small numbers of cells yields microgram quantities of amplified DNA raising the prospect of using conventional methods for preimplantation genetic diagnosis and extensive parallel genetic testing of early human embryos for other characteristics.
