About the Cover

Cover Figure

The cover image shows a Pseudocolour image series of the relative changes in [Ca2+]I initiated by 200 μM acetylcholine (ACh) (time of addition marked by arrow) into the midpiece (M) and head (H) of capacitated human sperm (×630) loaded with calcium sensing probe FLUO-3. Three greyscale images of sperm are included from the −20, +30 and +80 s timepoints. The sudden loss of fluorescent in head pattern of Ca2+ in sperm head following the addition of ACh is indicative of acrosomal exocytosis (See Bray et al., pp. 881–889).
