Cover design Rapid cycle fluorescent RT-PCR for single embryo. The cover of Molecular Human Reproduction shows the analysis of mRNA expression in mouse embryos by rapid cycle fluorescent reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Product accumulation was monitored by hybridization of specific reporter molecules (called beacons) or with a double-stranded DNA dye, SYBR Green 1. DNA amplification was evident from the control (liver RNA, 50 ng), from pooled embryos after 20 cycles and from single embryos after 25 cycles. This methodology will be valuable for the analysis of gene expression in single oocytes and embryos. For further details, see 10341039.
