Cover design The front cover of Molecular Human Reproduction shows the localization of the cell-cell adhesion molecule, E-cadherin, in villous and extravillous trophoblasts. E-cadherin was positive throughout the anchoring cell column (AV, anchoring villus). In contrast, distal trophoblasts undergoing epithelial mesencymal transformation (detaching from the column) and individual extravillous interstitual trophoblasts (arrows) in the decidua (D) showed E-cadherin-negative breaches in the cell membrane. Further studies showed that E-cadherin is also present in trophoblasts associated with the maternal vessels. For further details, please see 943-950.
