About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover design  The cover of Molecular Human Reproduction illustrates the mapping of the POF1 locus at Xq26. Previous studies have shown that actual disruption of a gene (or genes) at the breakpoint is responsible for premature ovarian failure (POF). This study has identified two candidate POF genes (H56ST and E2F) as well as LINE 1 elements in this area. Chromosomes: NX = normal X; del (X) = deleted X. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) of microsatellites and subsequent fluorescent in-situ hybridization (FISH) analyses with P1 artificial chromosomes (PACs) narrowed the breakpoint to an area spanned by PAC 97K10 (hatched). The PACs above the breakpoint i.e. PAC 363L9 are unaffected (black) while the PACs below i.e. PAC 358H7 are deleted (white). For further details, please see 314318.
