Cover design E-cadherin mediated rescue of 2-cell arrested embryos Embryos of a mouse strain which arrest at the 2-cell stage can be rescued by aggregation with normally developing 2-cell embryos. The front cover of Molecular Human Reproduction shows that E-cadherin is expressed at the contact site between the embryos of the blocking (open star) and non-blocking (solid star) phenotype. E-cadherin mediated cell signalling (and its downstream effects on cytoskeletal organization and mitochondrial distribution) appears to be important for normal preimplantation embryo development.
